Amidst the global tension and ongoing war between many countries of the world, India and the Arab League countries have chosen a common path of diplomacy and peace. On Saturday, India and Arab League countries presented a common and comprehensive vision towards further strengthening mutual relations. Both sides said that international relations should be in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations and maintaining peace and security in the world is the common responsibility of all.
The India-Arab Foreign Ministers’ meeting in New Delhi emphasized solidarity against terrorism, respect for the UN Charter and lasting peace in the Middle East. In the meeting, a common consensus was reached on important issues like support for the sovereign state of Palestine, ceasefire in Gaza and maritime security, which seems to be giving a new direction to India-Arab relations.

These issues including Palestine were discussed in the meeting
Many regional and global issues were discussed in the meeting. These included topics like the issue of Palestine, strengthening the multilateral system, respect for the sovereignty of countries, cooperation against terrorism and reform of the United Nations Security Council. During this, India and Arab countries said in a joint statement that they want permanent and just peace in the Middle East. Both sides supported the formation of an independent, sovereign and viable Palestinian State based on the 1967 borders, living side by side in peace with Israel. Additionally, support for the rights of the Palestinian people was also reiterated.
Not only this, the results of last year’s Sharm el-Sheikh peace summit regarding ceasefire were welcomed in the announcement by India and Arab League countries. The role of Egypt, Qatar and America was appreciated in this. Also, the need for unhindered delivery of relief, reconstruction and humanitarian assistance to Gaza was stressed.
Unity of both sides on the issue of terrorism
Let us tell you that this conversation took place in the second India-Arab Foreign Ministers meeting, which was hosted by India. 19 member countries of the Arab League participated in this meeting, which shows the importance of this organization. The announcement issued at the end of the meeting said that India and the Arab League have strongly condemned cross-border terrorism and appealed to all countries to jointly fight terrorism, dismantle terrorist infrastructure and stop terror funding. Also, it was said that the culprits of terrorist attacks should be punished without any delay.

Condemnation of Pahalgam terrorist attack
Along with this, while specifically mentioning the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in the announcement, it was said that the Arab League countries have condemned this attack and have assured full support to India against terrorism. The meeting condemned attacks by Houthi militias on maritime vessels in the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. Apart from this, both sides said that the security of these sea lanes is not only the regional responsibility, but the responsibility of the entire world. He warned against any efforts to harm stability in the Gulf of Aden, the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean.
Agreed to increase cooperation in these areas
It is noteworthy that in this meeting, India and Arab League countries also agreed to increase cooperation in energy, digital sector, health and education. At the same time, they reiterated their resolve to work as constructive forces for peace, equality and sustainable development and to strengthen South-South cooperation.
