The political temperature has reached its peak regarding the river water dispute in Telangana. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy met former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) and his nephew and former Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao have made a scathing attack. He alleged that during the BRS government, Telangana faced more injustice than undivided Andhra Pradesh in the use of Krishna and Godavari river waters.
During the presentation given by the Irrigation Minister to the ruling Congress leaders, the Chief Minister said that it would not be wrong if there is talk of hanging KCR and Harish Rao for the injustice done in the river water issue. Quoting the statement of late Telangana poet Kaloji Narayana Rao, he said that a strong stance is necessary against those who exploit, whether they are outsiders or our own people.
Questions also raised on irrigation projects
Revanth Reddy alleged that the cost of the Kaleshwaram Project and Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Project was deliberately increased by several times. He claimed that neither DPR was prepared on time nor transparency was maintained in these projects, due to which the state suffered huge economic loss.
Open invitation for debate in the assembly
The Chief Minister also said that India is a democratic country, where 26/11 terrorist Ajmal Kasab was also punished after a long judicial process. He also gave an open invitation to KCR to come to the assembly session and debate on river water and pending projects. This comment is also being considered a political sarcasm on KCR’s absence from the Assembly for the last two years.
BRS counterattacked, expressed displeasure over the statement
BRS has reacted strongly to this statement of Revanth Reddy. Party leaders say that on one hand the Chief Minister is inviting people to come to the Assembly and on the other hand he is talking about the death of their leaders. BRS has also accused Congress of harming the interests of Telangana.
