After the announcement of trade deal between India and America by US President Donald Trump, the stir in the politics of the country has intensified. Regarding this agreement, while the government is calling it a diplomatic and economic achievement, the Congress has made a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Congress alleges that information about major decisions related to India is being given again and again from America and not from the Indian government. The party says that this situation raises serious questions on India’s foreign policy and the role of the government.
Let us tell you that the whole matter started when US President Donald Trump announced on Monday that a trade agreement has been finalized between India and America. According to Trump, under this agreement, America will reduce the reciprocal tariff imposed on goods coming from India from 25 percent to 18 percent. Trump made this information public after a phone conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
PM Modi expressed happiness
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also reacted after this conversation and said that he is happy with this decision. He said that now there will be less tax on Made in India products in America, which will benefit Indian products and strengthen the trade relations between the two countries.

Congress’s displeasure, targeted at the Center
However, after this announcement, politics in Indian politics has intensified. The opposition party Congress launched a scathing attack on the Modi government regarding this entire incident. Senior Congress leader and party’s communication in-charge Jairam Ramesh said that this agreement does not look like the ‘Father of all deals’ in any way. He sarcastically said that it appears that Prime Minister Modi has finally decided to bow before the US President.
Ramesh said- It is clear in Washington that ‘Mogambo is happy’
Jairam Ramesh further satirized the Modi government by using a famous dialogue from the 1987 film Mr. India and said, ‘It is clear in Washington that ‘Mogambo is happy’. He said that Trump is continuously giving information about major decisions related to India from America. He reminded that Trump had also given the statement regarding Operation Sindoor from Washington, information about India purchasing oil from Russia and Venezuela had also come from America, and now the India-America trade deal has also been announced by Trump.
Trump dominates PM Modi- Ramesh
Along with this, the Congress leader also alleged that President Trump has some kind of pressure or leverage on Prime Minister Modi. He said that now the situation has become such that the Prime Minister neither wants to be seen in public with Trump nor is he seen talking in a friendly manner like before. In such a situation, the question of Congress is that if this was really a big agreement, then why was it not announced by the Government of India?

Congress also took a jibe at the American Ambassador’s statement
Not only this, this controversy got further fueled when the US Ambassador to India posted on social media that there was a conversation between President Trump and Prime Minister Modi. After this post, Congress again targeted the government. Jairam Ramesh said that it has now become a kind of tradition that the US President or his officials are the first to inform India about the decisions of its government, and not the Indian government itself. He termed it ‘Trump-dependence’.
Reason for Congress’s displeasure and achievement of the government
It is worth noting that Congress’s displeasure is even greater because just a few days ago, a major free trade agreement was agreed between India and the European Union, which was called the ‘Mother of All Deals’. In such a situation, Congress says that this agreement with America is not of that level, yet it is being presented as a big achievement. Overall, regarding the India-US trade deal, the government is calling it an economic achievement, while the Congress alleges that India’s role in this entire matter appears weak and the government seems to be taking decisions under American pressure.
