Full story of trophy controversy
India won the title by defeating Pakistan in the Asia Cup final, but the team led by captain Suryakumar Yadav refused to take the trophy from Naqvi. After this, Naqvi took the trophy and the medals of the winners to his hotel room. According to media reports, later these trophies and medals were handed over to the UAE Cricket Board, but so far India has not received any information about when and how they will be assigned.
ICC got jackal
Earlier, Naqvi was seen in the role of PCB chairman in the entire Asia Cup by forgetting the post of ACC chairman. Instead of being fair, he was seen advocating his country. During this time, he also gave the ICC Gidabhbhi, but he and the PCB had to face the mouth. Naqvi spoke of keeping cricket and politics separate and was seen doing the same herself.
Cricket world criticized
India and the international cricket community strongly criticized Naqvi’s move. Many cricket experts and fans described it against political intervention and basic principles of sports. But this shameless step in Pakistan is being seen as a national pride. Sindh and Karachi Basketball Association President and Advocate Ghulam Abbas Jamal told the Pakistani media outlet ‘The Nation’, giving an absurd statement, ‘This move of Naqvi restored national pride when political and sports relations with India were very stressful.’
Naqvi still adamant on shameless
After this entire controversy, the Asian Cricket Council has apologized to the BCCI, but Naqvi is adamant on her shamelessness. The Indian team is still waiting for the trophy and medal. On social media, Naqvi made it clear that he had no intention of apologizing to the BCCI. He wrote on X (East Twitter), ‘I did nothing wrong with BCCI, and will never apologize, nor will I ever apologize.’ Apart from this, Naqvi advised the Indian team to come directly to the ACC office in Dubai and get the trophy. After all these controversies, it is believed to fall on Naqvi.
