Russian President Vladimir Putin has given a strong statement on the ongoing international efforts to end the Ukraine war, saying that European countries are deliberately harming the steps being taken towards peace. Putin alleged that Europe is creating obstacles in the US-led peace process and is not showing any positive intention towards ending the war.
Putin made this statement after addressing an investment forum held in Moscow, soon after which he was to meet with US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and President Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner. Putin clearly said that European countries have made such changes to the US-led peace proposals that have been gaining momentum in recent weeks, which Russia cannot accept under any circumstances.
Europe’s intention is not peace – Putin
Putin alleged that European countries do not want a peace agenda but are “standing on the side of war.” He said that Europe is continuously putting forward such proposals which are against Russia’s interests and the real objective is not to take the talks forward but to block them. According to Putin, Europe’s move is part of a strategy to make Russia look guilty, while in reality it is it that is stalling the process.

Peace process is being stopped- Putin
The Russian president said Europe added amendments to the peace proposals that are “completely unacceptable” to Russia. He said that due to these changes, peace efforts came to a standstill. Putin claimed that Europe deliberately hindered the process and then tried to confuse the world by blaming Russia.
Russia’s talks with Trump administration
After Trump returned to the White House, the pace of peace talks between America and Russia has increased. Washington has launched new initiatives in recent months to end the war. Putin says that Europe is hindering these efforts. Russia has repeatedly said that talks will move forward only if the proposals are fair and no unilateral pressure is put on any side.

Putin’s statement makes it clear that Russia is now presenting Europe on the international stage as the biggest obstacle to the peace process.
