The Israeli army on Saturday killed senior Hamas commander Raed Saeed by attacking a car in Gaza City. Raed is considered one of the key planners of the October 7, 2023 attacks on Israel. Israeli media has given this news quoting sources. Hamas did not confirm Raed Saeed’s death in a statement.
Hamas said in the statement that a civilian vehicle was attacked outside Gaza City and that it was a violation of the ceasefire that came into effect on October 10. According to Gaza health officials, 4 people were killed and 25 were injured in the attack. However, Raed’s death was not immediately confirmed by Hamas or medical personnel.

An Israeli defense official described Raed as the head of Hamas’s arms manufacturing unit, while Hamas sources described him as second-in-command of the group’s armed wing, behind Izzedine al-Haddad. This attack has happened at a time when despite the ceasefire in October, violence in Gaza has not completely ended. According to Gaza health officials, 386 Palestinians have been killed in attacks by Israeli forces since the ceasefire.
