Today’s word in the ‘Hindi Hain Hum’ word series is – Baluka, which means sand, sand. Here is Agyeya’s poem – People are sitting around the water bearer.
1-
the water shark is surrounded
But the water in Jalhari has dried up.
Even the gods are slowly drying up
Their water has died.
Yup-yashtis are getting buried in the sand
tied in a sand-covered bier
on the chest of Mahakal
Time has set in.
Cities are dying in cities
in the desert
The water in Jalhari has dried up.
2-
He sees the whole world with three eyes
Creates from one, sustains from one, destroys from one.
He watches the business of the entire universe with three eyes.
Work in one, compassion in one, fire in one.
He sees the world with three eyes
And wherever one looks there is a pile of hot ashes.
Expanse of cool sand.
people decay
in him and he grows
it decays
in him and he grows
incarnates
gets lost in that desert
His play is creation
Which he is. how do we do
That he should come down and become what he is?
If we can’t be that
That which we have to happen?
He has created us in the desert
Will we create a desert in it?
He sees with three eyes-
to us or to die
Are we that or are we dead?
He sees with three eyes…

3-
Three children have made sand houses
They don’t know that they are particles in this sand
whose radiation starts the process
Of the destruction of all the houses in the world.
three children playing with sand
Sound of the ocean (of water or sand?)
Man is the third eye of man
Why are your eyes closed, deity?
