ADGP Y Puran Kumar, a 2001 batch IPS officer of Haryana cadre, committed suicide by shooting himself in the head with the service revolver of a private security officer (PSO) at his house in Sector-11, Chandigarh on Tuesday.
Police have recovered an eight-page suicide note written in English and a one-page will from the spot. The suicide note mentions seven-eight IPS and two IAS officers and accuses them of harassing them. However, the suicide note has not been officially confirmed.

Y Puran, originally a resident of Andhra Pradesh, was removed from the post of IG of Rohtak Range on September 29 and made IG of Sunaria Police Training College. Rohtak Superintendent of Police Narendra Bijarania said that on the complaint of liquor contractor Praveen Bansal, an FIR was registered against Puran Kumar’s security guard Sushil Kumar at Rohtak’s Urban Estate police station on Monday night.

Bansal has accused Sushil of demanding a bribe of Rs 2.5 lakh per month. Praveen also gave Sushil’s audio clip to the police. Police arrested Sushil and presented him in the court on Tuesday from where he was sent to judicial custody for 14 days.

During interrogation, Sushil had taken the name of Y Puran Kumar. SP Narendra Bijarania said that the police had not yet given any notice to Puran Kumar in this matter. There was no one in the house at the time of the incident. Puran Kumar’s wife is on Japan tour with CM Naib Saini.
The bullet went through the temple
According to the police, the bullet passed through the temple. The ear also disappeared from the other side. Police also found a bullet shell at the spot.

Allegations of casteism, posting and irregularities in ACR in suicide note
Haryana cadre 2001 batch IPS officer Y Puran Kumar wrote an 8-page suicide note before shooting himself in Kothi No. 116 of Sector-11 on Tuesday. In this he has made very serious allegations against many senior officials.
In the suicide note, he wrote a will on one page and bequeathed all his property to his wife. Apart from this, he accused a DGP of harassing him by sending an unnecessary notice and accused seven-eight IPS and two IAS officers of administrative interference and discrimination against him.
According to sources, most of the allegations are against the former DGP. In the suicide note, he talked about being troubled due to casteism, discrimination in posting, irregularities in ACR, not getting government accommodation and litigation along with administrative complaints. He wrote that for these reasons he is committing suicide.
