US President Donald Trump claimed on Wednesday that with the moratorium on executions in Iran, murders have also stopped. Donald Trump said he has learned from ‘reliable sources’ that execution plans in Iran have been halted. However, on the contrary, Tehran has indicated speedy trials and death sentences in its crackdown on protesters.

This claim of Donald Trump has come at a time when he has told the Iranians who have been protesting in recent days that help is coming. Trump had said that his administration would take appropriate action against the Iranian government. However, Trump has not given any detailed information regarding the statement as to how America will respond.

Will Trump postpone action on Iran?
It is not clear from President Trump’s statement on Wednesday whether he will take further action against Iran or not. However, his comments indicate that he will defer action. He said, ‘We have been told that the killings in Iran are stopping, have stopped. There are no plans to hang, nor will anyone be hanged, I have come to know from reliable sources.
Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and key White House National Security Council officials began meeting last Friday to discuss options for Trump ranging from a diplomatic approach to military strikes. There is a possibility that the US Army may take action in Iran as soon as Trump’s order is received.
It is noteworthy that at least 3400 people have been killed in the action of security forces during the ongoing protests in Iran.
