Expansion

Delhi’s Ghazipur landfill receives 2400 to 2600 metric tons (MT) of waste daily, but the Waste-to-Energy (WTE) plant can process only 700 to 1000 MT. The remaining waste is dumped in the limited space created by bio-mining, as increasing the height is prohibited. At the same time, the work of cleaning the old waste is going on at a fast pace and it will be completed by the year 2027. This information has been given by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) in its recent status report submitted to the National Green Tribunal (NGT).
