Earlier today, during the discussion on election reforms in the Lok Sabha, Amit Shah said that SIR cannot be discussed because the Election Commission does not work under the government, it is an independent institution. Congress is spreading lies regarding SIR. I will answer the lies spread by Congress.
Giving a strong response to the opposition, Amit Shah also said that the Prime Minister of the country and the Chief Minister of the state will not decide on infiltrators. He clearly said that this right belongs only to the citizens of India. Shah accused the opposition of spreading baseless allegations and asserted that Narendra Modi was made Prime Minister by the people of the country and not with the blessings of the opposition. He also talked about the need for transparency in electoral processes.

Congress spread lies on SIR- Amit Shah
Home Minister Amit Shah, while replying to the discussion on electoral reforms in the Lok Sabha, said that the proceedings of the Parliament could not continue for two days. An attempt was made to give such a message among the people that we do not want to discuss. We people of BJP and NDA never ran away from discussion… We said no to discussion, there were reasons behind it also. The opposition is demanding a detailed review of the SIR, which is not possible as it falls under the jurisdiction of the Election Commission. We do not conduct elections. If this is discussed then who will answer? When they agreed to discuss election reforms, we discussed for two days.
Amit Shah said that the discussion was decided on electoral reforms, but the opposition members spoke only on SIR. I will have to answer. I have thoroughly studied all the earlier SIRs and want to respond to the lies spread by the Congress as per my arguments. The Election Commission is a constitutional institution. Shah said the opposition wanted to divert the debate by raising the issue of SIR, while the government wanted a meaningful discussion on comprehensive electoral reforms.
The Home Minister said, the Election Commission is responsible for the elections, when this system was made, we did not even exist. Special powers were given to the Election Commissioner in Article 324. The eligibility of voters has been fixed in Article 326. Manish Tiwari was saying that the Election Commission does not have the right to conduct SIR, so I want to tell him that the Election Commission has this right under Article 327. Amit Shah said that after 2000, SIR was done thrice and twice there was BJP-NDA government and once there was Manmohan Singh government. Then no one protested. This is the process of keeping elections sacred. If the voter list on which elections are held is impure, then how can elections be sacred? Amit Shah said that infiltrators cannot decide who should be CM-PM. SIR resulted from the decision of the Supreme Court. It is the duty of the Election Commission to decide who is a voter and who is not.
