After the uproar in many parts of Uttar Pradesh, now senior Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Azam Khan has broken his silence on the ‘I Love Mohammed’ controversy. Former minister Azam Khan has called it a well-planned conspiracy. Raising questions on the administration, he said that this matter could have been resolved through dialogue but it was deliberately blown out of proportion.
He said that even if I call it a spark, the question is how this small thing became such a big fire. If the district administration wanted, this dispute could have been resolved through talks. History is witness to the fact that no matter how bad the situation is, the solution is ultimately found on the negotiating table.
He further said that this was a conspiracy to hurt the Ganga-Jamuni culture of the country. If the district administration wanted, it could have resolved the issue through talks. No matter how bad things get, a solution can be found only through dialogue. Look at the results of the war… this was a conspiracy to spoil the harmony. Obviously, if someone loves someone, it is his birthright.
It is worth noting that recently a controversy had arisen over writing ‘I Love Mohammed’ in Rampur and other places.

What was the ‘I Love Mohammed’ controversy
Actually, the controversy over the ‘I Love Mohammed’ banner in Kanpur started on September 4, 2025, when this banner was put up on a tent in front of the Ram Navami procession gate in Syed Nagar, Rawatpur, during the procession of Barafat (Eid-Miladunnabi). Hindu organizations protested as this place was off the traditional procession route. There was also an incident of banner tearing, after which the atmosphere became tense. Police handled the situation and got the banner removed. Also made an agreement between both the parties. During the procession on September 5, some youths from the Muslim community were accused of tearing religious posters of another community, after which the controversy escalated further. Police had registered an FIR against 25 people on the basis of CCTV footage. After this, the atmosphere in the entire state and some parts of the country had deteriorated.
