Controversy has once again come to light regarding Tiruparankundram hill. The Santhanakoodu festival of the Muslim community has started at Hazrat Sikandar Dargah situated on this hill, which started with the hoisting of the flag. But the event was opposed by local Hindu organizations and some residents.
He says that according to the court order, ‘Kartigai Deepam’ should have been lit as per Hindu tradition on the pillar near the Dargah on this hill in the month of Kartik, for which the police did not give permission.

After not getting permission from the police, people protested by lighting lamps outside Arulmigu Palani Andavar temple. Meanwhile, the administration clarified that the Revenue Sub-Divisional Officer of Tirumangalam has given permission to organize the Santhanakudu festival and hoist the flag at the Dargah, which will continue till January 6, 2026.

As part of the Santhanakoodu festival, a traditional Rath Yatra is also to be taken out, for which bulls have been brought. The administration says that adequate arrangements have been made to maintain law and order and the situation is being monitored.
