US President Donald Trump warned in a statement on Friday that a huge US naval fleet is moving towards Iran. Trump claimed that this naval fleet is bigger than the fleet sent to Venezuela. Trump also claimed that Iran wants to make a deal. However, Trump did not give much information about this. Iran has also indicated that they also want to talk, but nothing has been decided yet.
Trump threatened Iran
Trump wrote in a post shared on Truth Social that ‘The naval fleet heading towards Iran is larger than the fleet sent to Venezuela and it is moving fast, with full force and with enthusiasm and purpose.’ Tension has increased between America and Iran regarding the protests in Iran. Hundreds of people have died in these protests. America has threatened to attack Iran and has sent its naval fleet towards Iran. Even on Wednesday, President Trump had warned of terrible attacks on Iran, on which Iran also threatened to retaliate.
Iran said- ready for talks, but equally ready for war
- Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Friday that Iran is ready for talks with the US to reduce tensions, but there is no concrete plan yet for talks with Washington.
- Araghchi, speaking to reporters at a joint press conference with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Istanbul, said Iran had no plans to meet with the Americans.
- Araghchi said, ‘We are ready for fair and equitable talks. For such a dialogue, arrangements should first be made regarding the manner of the conversation, the place of the conversation, and the subject of the conversation.’
- He further said, ‘Just as the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready for talks, it is also ready for war.’
- The US military has sent the USS Abraham Lincoln and several guided-missile destroyers to Middle East Asia, but it is not yet clear whether President Donald Trump will use the military against Iran. US Central Command said on Friday that USS Abraham Lincoln has reached the Arabian Sea.
- Turki has opposed military action against Iran, warning that such action would destabilize the region. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke on the phone with Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian on Friday and offered to mediate between Iran and the US.
