Taking a major step against alleged networks linked to Iran’s drone and ballistic missile program, the US has imposed new sanctions on 10 people and companies of Iran and Venezuela. The Trump administration says that these activities are a serious threat to the security of America and its Middle Eastern allies.
According to the US Treasury Department, these sanctions have been imposed with the aim of strengthening the sanctions reimposed on Iran by the United Nations. Their aim is to increase economic pressure on Iran’s nuclear and military programs. However, Iran has been continuously claiming that its nuclear program is completely peaceful.
The list of new sanctions includes the name of a Venezuelan company and its chairman, who are accused of purchasing drones from Iran. Apart from this, three Iranian citizens have been accused of being involved in the purchase of chemicals used in ballistic missiles. Besides, some Iran-based individuals and companies are also targeted, who are said to be related to Ryan Fan Group. America has already imposed sanctions on this holding company.
It is noteworthy that in February, President Donald Trump had restarted the Maximum Pressure campaign against Iran. Its objective was said to be to stop Iran from developing nuclear weapons. In this context, this summer, after the open conflict between Israel and Iran, America had also attacked three important uranium enrichment facilities of Iran.

Gave warning during conversation with Israeli PM
This week, Trump, speaking with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Florida, warned Iran that the United States could take further military action if it tried to revive its nuclear program. US Treasury Department Undersecretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence John K. Hurley said Iran and Venezuela are responsible for the proliferation of deadly weapons around the world. We will continue to take swift action against all individuals and entities that provide Iran’s military-industrial complex with access to the U.S. financial system.
Meanwhile, US State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott said that Iran is continuously violating UN sanctions. He said supplying conventional weapons to Caracas is a threat to US interests in our region. This step of America is being seen as increasing international pressure on Iran and Venezuela, which may affect global politics and security equations in the future.
